White, Zachary announce re-election plans

Continuing on last week's leadoff of area candidate announcements, in this week's Sentinel, Porter Town Councilman Larry White and Gail Zachary announce their re-election plans for office. Other candidate announcements will appear as they are submitted.

Larry White

Town of Porter Councilman Larry White has announced his plans for re-election. A lifelong resident of the town, White is a former supervisor with DuPont and is currently retired. Currently serving on the Town Board, White is active on the following:

•Organizing and chairing, along with Jeff and Gloria Baker, the annual fundraiser for Porter On The Lake. He reports this year's "Summerfest" will be held on July 3.

•Serving on the Porter On The Lake Park Committee and on the Porter On The Lake Master Plan Committee.

•Serving as liaison to the Youngstown and Ransomville libraries.

•Serving on the Town of Porter Sewer Committee, Audit Committee and Employee Compensation Committee.

•Serving as liaison to the Town of Porter Highway Department and the Porter Zoning Board.

•Assisting with Town of Porter Master Plan development.

White is also active in the following: member and past commodore of the Youngstown Yacht Club; member of the 3F Club; member of the Judges and Police Association of Niagara County; member of the Friends of the Ransomville Library and of Friends of the Youngstown Free Library; and member of the Town of Porter Historical Society

"I look forward to serving the residents of the Town of Porter for four more years," said White.

Gail Zachary

Porter Town Clerk Gail Zachary has announced that she will be running for re-election for town clerk in the November general election.

Zachary has been with the town for the past 27 years; 12 as assessor clerk, 12 as deputy town clerk and for the past four years, has served as Porter Town Clerk. She is a notary public, member of the New York State town clerk's Association and the Niagara County Municipal Clerks Association.

She is married to Richard Zachary, a retired deputy with the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. She and "Zac" live in Ransomville and have five children and 13 grandchildren.

Zachary is a graduate of Barker Central School and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.
