Northgate resident celebrates 100 years

Florence Taylor, a resident at The McGuire Group's Northgate Health Care Facility in Wheatfield, will celebrate her 100 birthday on Wednesday, April 20.

She was born in 1911 to William and Marie Heidenfeldt in North Tonawanda. She and her husband William Taylor were married for 55 years before his passing. They resided in North Tonawanda and Ransomville. 

Florence was a homemaker and William worked as a staff engineer at Wurlitzer in North Tonawanda. They were also members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. 

Together they had five children: Sharon (Walter) Hird of Medina, Valerie Carr of Wheatfield and three who are deceased. She is proud to currently have five generations of her family living.

In her spare time, Florence enjoyed playing the organ, reading, baking and sewing. She became a resident at Northgate Health Care Facility in April of 2007. She enjoys attending the facility's music programs and spending time with the many dogs and cats that visit.
