Lewiston's 18-hole, par 72 Seneca Hickory Stick Golf is slated to open on Friday. The Creek Road site, which debuted last year, was voted the sixth-best new course in America by Golf Magazine. It was fashioned by acclaimed designer Robert Trent Jones II.

New this year on the greens is the Hickory Stick Bar and Grill. The eatery will offer lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Patrons can choose items off a menu set to feature a fish fry (Friday only), steak sandwich, pasta, specialty salads, burgers and other grilled items, all "very reasonable" in price, front house manager Cheryl Nowocien says.

She notes the restaurant, like the golf course, is open to anyone and everyone.

"You don't need a club membership," Nowocien says. "This is open to the public."

The Hickory Stick Bar and Grill seats 50 inside and 48 more on the terrace overlooking the course lake. Seating expands to 175 for weddings and banquets.

Seneca Hickory Stick Golf is located at 4560 Creek Road. For more information, or to make a reservation, call 754-2424.
