Niagara Falls International Airport's third low-cost airline, the Florida-based Spirit Airlines, sent its first planeload of Western New York and Canadian residents to Fort Lauderdale at 1:55 a.m. Friday. The early-morning non-stop flight gets travelers to Florida at 5 a.m. "You could be on the beach by 6 a.m. and have your umbrella and drink in hand ready to go," said Misty Pinson, Spirit corporate communications director, at a press conference Thursday afternoon. Shown, from left, welcoming Pinson and Spirit to Niagara Falls are Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston; C. Douglas Hartmayer, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority director of public affairs; Eunice A. Lewin, NFTA board member; and State Sen. George Maziarz, R-Newfane.
