The Town of Grand Island will honor veterans of past military campaigns during its annual Veterans Day program. This year, the town will honor its World War II veterans.

A preselected Boy Scout will contact WWII veterans to do a brief interview and prepare, under adult supervision, a verbal salute that will be read during the Veterans Day program.

WWII veterans, family members, and friends are cordially invited to attend the program on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 1717 Bedell Road. Each veteran will receive a copy of the Veterans Day program and excerpts from the Scout's interview presentation.

Grand Island WWII veterans are asked to contact the Parks and Recreation Department to let them know if they will be attending the program on Nov. 11, or if a family member will represent them. Vets are asked to respond by calling the Recreation Department at 773-9680 or by e-mail to [email protected].
