The Youngstown Free Library announces it will hold a "Food for
Fines" collection drive for overdue books and materials from Monday, Nov. 1,
through Tuesday, Nov. 30. Accepted food items include canned or dried goods;
perishables or items requiring refrigeration will not accepted.
"The value of food brought in should be equal to or greater than
the fine," says Jan Gilgore. "They will be donated to the holiday community
baskets in Youngstown."
School-age patrons are encouraged to clean out school lockers to
look for books they may have been required to read over the summer. And all
patrons are encouraged to return any Youngstown Free Library overdue item.
