As the coordinator of this year's CROP Walk for hunger which was
held this past Sunday, Sept. 26, I want to thank the members of the community
who participated in one way or another in this walk. While the money is still
being counted, it looks like the total raised will be very close to $4,300. The
money is sent to Church World Service. Founded in 1946, CWS is a cooperative
ministry of 36 Christian denominations and communions, and part of the
ecumenical family of the National Council of Churches USA. One-quarter of the
money raised will remain here on Grand Island, and will be divided equally
between the food pantries of the Neighbors Foundation and Trinity United
Methodist Church. The rest will go all over the world to provide wells, food,
help with refugee resettlement, and countless other causes of poverty. Many
thanks to Kaegebein School, which opened its doors to us as the gathering
place.
If you'd like to participate next year, please give me a call
(773-3550) or contact me by e-mail, [email protected].
I'm eatin' tonight. Billions will not. That's why I do the CROP
Walk.
