Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, NY-28, this week announced $14 million has been awarded to the Niagara Falls International Airport allowing it to meet safety guidelines put forth by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The $14,037,797 grant was awarded to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority by the FAA for design and construction of improvements to the runway safety area.

"The airport is one more testament to the fact that Niagara County is a good place to do business, and I will do everything I can to support it," said Slaughter. "Today, I'm pleased to announce federal funding that will allow safety to remain a chief priority for everyone traveling to the Falls by air."

The Niagara Falls International Airport has three active runways, which serve general aviation, military and commercial flights.
