School buses preparing to roll

Friday, Aug. 20, is the registration cutoff date for guaranteeing Niagara-Wheatfield bus service for the first day of school on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

In order to prepare, and send out the annual bus route informational notices by Aug. 27 to the families of more 4,500 students attending nearly 50 private and parochial schools, the N-W Transportation Department needs to receive all changes and additions to bus routes for the 2010-11 school year as soon as possible. Families registering students after Aug. 20 cannot be guaranteed busing for the first day of school.

After the annual mailing/notice is completed and mailed out, the N-W Transportation Department will continue to add student registration and busing requests as they are received from the district's Central Office.

Bus route changes and additions that result from late registration will be processed in the order they are received, and may take up to two weeks for bus service to be implemented. The bus garage phone number is 215-3300.
