Parent Network workshops

Parent Network of WNY is
offering two free workshops in July for parents who have children and/or young
adults with special needs.
- "Autism Spectrum
Disorders: Social Interventions for Home and School" is Wednesday July 14, from
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Parent Network, 1000 Main St., Buffalo. Jennifer A.
Toomey, Ph.D., Summit Educational Resources, will discuss the social challenges
that ASDs present in both children and adults as well as several new strategies
to use at home, in school and in the community.
- "Special Education:
What's It All About?" is Tuesday, July 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Parent
Network. Participants in this workshop will gain a better understanding of the
special education system, learn how to help develop an individualized education
program, know what to expect at a committee on special education /committee on
preschool special education meeting and receive a certificate to become a
parent member of the CSE/CPSE for their school district.
