The Lewiston Dog Owners Group reports that, on June 18, the final hurdle was cleared with approvals sealed for the long-anticipated Lewiston Dog Park on the Artpark plateau, with work to begin as soon as possible.

"With (the) definites finally in place it's time for LDOG to regroup and renew its energies," says spokesperson Molly Chamberlain. She reports LDOG will meet on Thursday, July 8, at 7 p.m. in the boardroom of the Village of Lewiston Red Brick Municipal Building.

"Every effort should be made to attend this critical meeting. You do not have to be a resident of Lewiston to participate. Everyone with a vested interest in seeing the success of the Dog Park is urged to attend."

Chamberlain adds that as promised, LDOG will work collaboratively with the village and town of Lewiston to assist in the smooth operation of the park. In its initial phases the park will operate simply with fencing, gates, some minimal landscaping, etc., until some funds can be raised to add to the overall integration of the park.

"There are lots of volunteer activities waiting for your help - some a little work, and some a lot of fun - but all leading to good things developing at the park. There will be many ways for everyone to help make it a better place - so don't second guess yourself - everyone has something to contribute.

"Your continued support has made our success to date. Keep it coming!"
