Diocese of Buffalo names Bremer director of buildings, properties & central services

The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo recently selected Steven Bremer to be its new director of buildings, properties and central services. In his role, Bremer is responsible for assisting parishes with needs including procurement of contractors for building work, and ensuring those contractors are providing satisfactory work. He also assists parishes in emergencies such as floods and fires, aiding them with insurance claims and working to get facilities back to normal operation.

Before joining the Catholic Center, Bremer worked for 18 years as a building inspector for three local municipalities, most recently in the City of Lackawanna (10 years), and previously four years each in the Village of Williamsville and the Town of Orchard Park. He worked 18 years before that as a private contractor.

Bremer is a 1984 graduate of Depew High School and currently resides in Orchard Park.

Diocese of Buffalo names Christy Director of Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries

The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo announced Thomas Christy was recently named director of the Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries.

Prior to joining the diocese, Christy served in financial leadership positions with the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, D’Youville University, Federal Express and the Erie County Clerk’s Office. He also founded and operated Advance Image Marketing, worked for 10 years as a television and radio host, and wrote for news publications in Niagara County.

He began his career working in Albany for the speaker of the New York State Assembly, which included time serving as legislative director for former Assemblyman William Parment of Jamestown.

Christy received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Buffalo State College and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University at Buffalo, and has done graduate work in the international business program at D’Youville University. He is also a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School and St. Amelia School in the Town of Tonawanda. His daughters were both educated fully in Catholic schools, from elementary to high school and university levels.
