Lewiston Lions share Earth Day initiatives

Thrilled to witness the energy within our community, rallying together to preserve a slice of Mother Nature – the majestic blue spruce tree gracing our waterfront.

But why stop here? Let's continue this admirable journey. I extend a warm invitation to the community to join our club in commemorating Earth Day with our annual Village of Lewiston cleanup. We'll commence bright and early on Saturday, April 20, with sign-in starting at 8 a.m. At 9 a.m., we'll provide volunteer instructions, and after the cleanup, we'll conclude with a volunteer hot dog lunch at noon.

More great news, our “Village of Trees” initiative comes into fruition this year. This project aims to enrich public spaces by planting trees and installing park benches, creating natural shaded walking and sitting areas. Our goal is to promote the health and well-being of both village residents and visitors alike. Notably, all locations are owned and maintained by the Village of Lewiston.

This endeavor seamlessly aligns with Lions Clubs International Global Cause of Environment, underscoring the Lewiston Community Lions Club's dedication to safeguarding and enhancing the environment while fostering a healthier community within the Village of Lewiston.

This year, our efforts will see the planting of 11 trees and the installation of two park benches at publicly accessible properties – two parks and one cemetery. The club collaborates closely with Village of Lewiston officials, including Mayor Anne Welch.
