Manslaughter leads to 17-year prison term

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Michael Hamilton, age 38, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced this morning to a term of 17 years in State Prison. Hamilton pled guilty in November of last year to manslaughter in the first degree for the death of Jason Chapman on Pine Ave in Niagara Falls on July 12, 2022.

County Court Judge John Ottaviano handed down the sentence.

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Grand Jury Bureau Chief Maria Stoelting.
