In commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 15, the Niagara History Center will present a program for children, “A Journey on the Underground Railroad.” It starts at 10 a.m. and continues through 1 p.m. at 215 Niagara St., Lockport.

Organizers said, “Activities include assembling a ‘runaway’ bundle containing objects one would need on their journey; following a ‘route’ through the museum using clues and overcoming obstacles on the way to freedom; learning about some unusual ways enslaved people escaped to the north; making and playing a traditional African game; and handling reproduction artifacts associated with the Underground Railroad.”

A snack will be provided at noontime.

The program fee is $15 per child. Activities are open to children ages 7 to 11. Preregistration is required. To register or for more information, call 716-434-7433 or email [email protected].
