Flags to be flown at half-staff on Dec. 12

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced flags on state buildings will be flown at half-staff on Dec. 12, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of fallen Technical Sgt. Christopher P. Rock.

“Technical Sgt. Christopher P. Rock was a valiant servant to his family, community and the state of New York,” Hochul said. “Sgt. Rock leaves behind a legacy of service and mentorship that will never be forgotten, and my heart goes out to all of those whose lives he touched.”

On Dec. 3, Rock passed away from an illness stemming from his assignment in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001. He had retired from the New York State Police after 26 years of dedicated service on Sept. 27, 2013. Rock is from Kerhonkson and is survived by his wife.
