The Niagara History Center will hold a school holiday Veterans Day program for children ages 7-11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10.

A press release stated, “The activities for the day will go along with the theme of ‘Animals in War Time,’ and will include an overview explaining how various animals have been used in military operations throughout history; a relay race in which the children act as ‘pack horses’ using different weights (nothing too strenuous); a scavenger hunt through the museum to match the animal with the conflict they were in, and a discussion of the equipment needed to outfit a horse. Participants will also have the opportunity to design their own mascot, make a stick horse and paper sword, and stage a mock battle.

All activities take place at the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport. The cost of the program is $15 per child and includes a light snack. Preregistration is necessary. For more information, call 716-434-7433 or email [email protected].
