The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum will reopen this Wednesday after being temporarily closed for a month. The museum is reopening with two new exhibits for the community to play and learn, and with new hours.

A press release stated, “The ‘Recycling Truck’ exhibit, by Modern Disposal, puts children in the driver's seat! Elements of the truck actually work like the lights, and rear-view camera, imitating an authentic experience. Furthermore, children can learn how to recycle various products by placing them in the appropriate slot on the truck. Additionally, with the museum's emphasis on access and inclusion, the truck features ADA handrails.”

A representative of the Washuta family said, “The Modern group of companies and the Washuta family are pleased to offer the families of Buffalo-Niagara Region a new exhibit at the region’s premier children’s museum. The exhibit will feature a fully interactive recycling truck. The idea is that with this sponsorship, Modern helps teach younger generations of children – and their parents – about the importance of recycling and sustainability. Those benefits extend beyond our region to our state and nation as well.

“The second exhibit opening is the ‘Story Walk,’ an innovative and delightful way for children – and adults! – to enjoy reading in an adventurous, unique way, presented in partnership with Gallagher Insurance and Alice, Ever Books. To kick off the ‘Story Walk’ exhibit, pages from the book ‘City Feet’ will be placed throughout the museum, giving families the opportunity to explore the museum and read a story in a new way.”

Meg Howe, owner of Alice, Ever Books, said "Explore & More celebrates the power of child-led play, and Alice, Ever After Books promotes wonder through stories. This ‘Story Walk’ exhibit gives families an opportunity to infuse their play and movement with literacy. We are thrilled to offer this experience to seek adventure through a story."

Finally, the museum is opening to new hours for the school year, which are as follows:

√ Members-only playtime: 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday

√ Open to the Public: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Families are encouraged to purchase admission tickets ahead of time at exploreandmore.org.
