Leadership changes at Girl Scouts of Western New York

Javeena A. Edwards, MBA, was named the Interim CEO of Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY), and Lynn M. Lubecki, Ed.D., was appointed president of the board of directors.

Edwards’ appointment follows the resignation of Alison Wilcox, who left the organization to lead the Double H Camp in Lake Luzerne. In addition to her interim position Edwards will continue to serve as GSWNY’s chief financial officer.

Edwards joined GSWNY in 2021 as CFO, following more than 15 years’ experience in accounting and finance for banking, manufacturing and other private sector enterprises. She earned an undergraduate degree from the University at Buffalo School of Management and a master’s degree from Medaille University. A City of Buffalo native, Edwards is a trustee of the Tapestry Charter School and serves on the board of directors for Peaceprints of WNY. She is a community leader with a commitment to equity, engagement and dignity for people in underserved neighborhoods within the urban core.

Lubecki has served on the GSWNY board of directors since 2020. Her expertise is in education, executive leadership, diversity and inclusion, and systems change. Lubecki is a newly appointed assistant professor at Empire State University in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She recently served as faculty at Children's Institute, affiliated with University of Rochester, as project director for Project LAUNCH (SAMHSA), a cross-sector human services collaborative. Lubecki has a track record for building impactful, high-functioning management teams for nonprofit organizations. She was a Girl Scout growing up in Buffalo, and shared her love for Girl Scouting with her daughter, Angela, serving as troop leader for many years in Rochester.

Girl Scouts of Western New York serves girls and adult volunteers in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
