Members of Youngstown Boy Scout Troop 829 participated in an exciting whitewater rafting adventure down the Black River in Watertown this summer.

“The Adirondack River Outfitters provided an unforgettable experience for the Scouts and adult leaders who part of this adventure,” Scoutmaster Aaron Swanson said. “As a result of the heavy rains this summer, water pressure and flows were at levels that had not been seen in three decades, which amounted to seven times the levels seen in a typical August.

“The Scouts certainly needed to utilize the mantra of ‘be prepared’ as they listened to very experienced guides give commands through this intense and extremely fun venture down the Black River.”
