On Aug. 4, 2023, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a 911 call reporting two bodies were floating in the Niagara River in front of the New York Power Authority at 5777 Lewiston Road in the Town of Lewiston. The New York State Police assisted and were able to locate the bodies floating in the water by Stella Niagara.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit, with the assistance of the U.S Coast Guard, retrieved the bodies from the river. Preliminary investigation shows an adult male and female were retrieved from the waters.
Investigation to continue by the Niagara County criminal investigation bureau.
The identities of the two individuals are unknown at this time.
