Press Release

Today, three-times-Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Grace Potter shares “Ready Set Go” and “Lady Vagabond,” the newest tracks off her highly anticipated album “Mother Road,” out Aug. 18 via Fantasy Records.

Each track reveals one of the many wild characters Potter manifests in “Mother Road’s” twisted odyssey. “Ready Set Go” finds Potter as a 20-year-old, happy-go-lucky, wayward hitchhiker locked in an alternate reality; while the dramatic “Lady Vagabond,” wrapped in spaghetti-western bravado, illuminates the lawless, superhero within. “ ‘Ready Set Go’ is one of the very first songs I wrote for ‘Mother Road,’ ” Potter said. “I’d been driving solo for about a week and I must’ve been desperate for some company because, any time I stopped, I got this bizarre urge to jump in every car, truck, train or bus I saw drive by! While I didn’t indulge that highly questionable and risky idea in reality, I did explore it through song ... and my imaginary co-pilots took me down some very unexpected roads.

“On the other hand, along the many stops on ‘Mother Road,’ ‘Lady Vagabond’ is, without a doubt, the steepest exit ramp to another dimension from which you cannot return.”

Tickets are currently on sale for Potter’s “Mother Road Tour,” which kicks off at Collin Centers for the Arts in Orono, Maine, on Saturday, Sept. 7. The 18-date fall tour also includes two performances at Shelburne Museum in her native Vermont, as well as shows at New York City’s Pier 17, Milwaukee’s Pabst Theatre, Chicago’s Riviera Theater and Atlanta’s Tabernacle, among other great venues, before concluding at The Fillmore in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Nov. 18. Potter performs at Artpark in Lewiston on Sept. 9.

Produced by Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Nickel Creek) and recorded at RCA’s famed Studio A in Nashville and Topangadise in Topanga, California, “Mother Road” – the follow-up to Potter’s 2019 acclaimed, two-times-Grammy-nominated album “Daylight” – finds the rock and soul artist deconstructing her deepest fears and darkest regrets and charting the fallout with brutal honesty and emotional daring. Throughout the album’s 10 original tracks, Potter, along with contributions from top-flight musicians, commands an expansive soundscape of soulful rock, roots, funk, country and R&B.
