Free brown bag medication checkup

Calling Niagara County residents of all ages!: The Council for Older Adults (COA) in Niagara County, in collaboration with D’Youville School of Pharmacy, invites all Niagara County residents to attend a free brown bag medication checkup event.

This event is set for 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn. Please bring in your brown bag all:

√ Prescription medicines (including pills and creams)

√ Over-the-counter medicines taken regularly

√ Vitamins, supplements, and herbal medicines

The Niagara County Office for Aging and the Niagara County Department of Health will be onsite with information about additional services and programs available through the county. The Health Department will also have medication disposal option for expired or meds that are not used. The Department of Mental Health will have educational materials on harm reduction due to accidental medication overdose.

Participants will receive a free medication consultation with a D’Youville School of Pharmacy student who will review all medications. People will leave with an updated medications list. A licensed pharmacist will also be present to answer any questions.

There will also be free blood pressure screening and participants will receive a free FILE of LIFE magnet kit.

COA promotes and coordinates public and private programs that support and safeguard the independence and well-being of our senior population and is funded by the Niagara County Office for the Aging. It is located at 1302 Main St., Niagara Falls.
