Calling Niagara County residents of all ages: The Council for Older Adults in Niagara County, in collaboration with D’Youville School of Pharmacy, invites Niagara County residents to attend a free brown bag medication checkup event from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Road, Sanborn.

The Niagara County Office for Aging and the Niagara County Department of Health will also be onsite with information about additional services and programs available through the county.

Participants can bring a bag filled with prescription medicines (including pills and creams), over-the-counter medicines taken regularly, vitamins, supplements and herbal medicines.

A press release noted, “You will receive a free medication consultation with a D’Youville School of Pharmacy student who will review all your medications with you, and you will leave with an updated medications list. Licensed pharmacists will also be present to answer any of your questions.

“There will also be free blood pressure screening and you will receive a free FILE of LIFE magnet kit.

While this is a free event, registration is encouraged. To register, contact Heather Culverwell at 716-285-8224, ext. 215, or email [email protected].

The press release added, “The Council for Older Adults in Niagara County (COA) promotes and coordinates public and private programs that support and safeguard the independence and well-being of our senior population, and is funded by the Niagara County Office for the Aging.”
