Lace up for 22nd annual Ronald McDonald House Charities 5K Run

Popular run features USATF-certified scenic route, Fisher-Price PlaySpace, Famed Post-Run Party

Lace up your running shoes and come run with up to 1,000 or so fellow runners as they fill the street in front of the Ronald McDonald House at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, and take their mark for the 22nd annual Ronald McDonald House Charities of WNY (RMHC of WNY) 5K Run.

This prestigious run was named the 2022 Buffalo News “Runner of the Year” race. The USATF-certified course takes participants through the scenic Elmwood Village neighborhood. It begins from the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House at 780 West Ferry St.

“The Ronald McDonald House Charities of WNY 5K Run has become a beloved tradition, igniting the spirit of our community while supporting a truly worthy mission that supports families in a time of need,” said Marianne Hoover, RMHC of WNY executive director. “We’re thrilled to offer activities for the whole family, including the free Fisher-Price PlaySpace and our famed post-run party. We thank our presenting sponsor, Orville’s Home Appliances, for its continuous support of this run, and Fisher-Price for partnering with the Play Space. Plus, we show tremendous gratitude to our additional sponsors for making this family-fun evening possible.”

Event registration cost is $30 per runner and includes a custom runner’s hat and post-run party that includes a picnic dinner, liquid refreshments, and live music by the Scott Celani Band (led by 2021 Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee Scott Celani). Guests are also welcome at the post-run party for $10 each.

Registration begins at noon on Wednesday, July 26. The Free Fisher-Price Play Space opens from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Canisius High School Tripi Field – West Ferry entrance. (For children ages 8 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult.) The run start time is 6:30 p.m. The post-run party is 7-8:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the run.
