U.S. Navy Lt. Carlee Conway has successfully completed the demanding strike fighter training conducted at Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California. The wing flies the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, which are the same jet platform seen in the recent “Top Gun: Maverick” movie.

Conway finished at the top of her class, with her last round of qualifications being day and night landings on the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier in the Pacific.

She received her next duty station, NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and will be reporting this month. Conway’s new squadron is Strike Fighter Squadron VFA 32 – the "Fighting Swordsmen" who operate the F/A-18F Super Hornet. They are currently assigned to the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier and part of Carrier Air Wing Three, U.S. Navy Atlantic fleet.

Conway is a 2019 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a 2014 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, and a former Grand Island resident. Her parents are Margaret and Brendan Conway of Grand Island.
