Mental Health is health.

The Erie County Department of Health’s Office of Health Equity has three free sessions scheduled for its Youth Mental Health First Aid Training for Adults.

This skills-based training teaches people 18 years and older how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in youth ages 12-18, how to offer and provide help, and how to guide them toward appropriate care. Mental Health First Aiders leave the course with knowledge and skills that take the fear and hesitation about mental health conversations.

More than 300 people have received Mental Health First Aid training in the first five months of the program in 2023. Each training session expands the strength and resilience of community members in responding to stresses and mental health needs within their personal and professional circles.

Office of Health Equity staff lead trainings for businesses, including internally with Erie County staff, schools, organizations and the wider community. Learn more at https://www3.erie.gov/health/form/mhfa-org-training.

Each class runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is required for these courses; email [email protected], call 716-858-2385 or visit www.erie.gov/mhfa
