Press Release

Global superstar Lewis Capaldi today releases his brand-new, hit-stacked album, “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent,” on EMI Records/Universal Music Canada, featuring three heartbreaking U.K. No. 1 singles, "Pointless", "Wish You The Best" and the Platinum-certified "Forget Me."

The new album doubles down on raw emotional honesty and powerful vocal work, working with hitmakers including Max Martin, Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean), and longtime collaborator Phil Plested (James Bay, Bastille).

It’s been received with widespread media praise. Rolling Stone U.K. branded it “a surefire hit,” with the Mail On Sunday declaring that “the hits keep on coming.” Dork Magazine noted that “Lewis has found his element and is flourishing in it,” and The New York Times described Lewis as having “a scorched cannon of a voice, and it’s best deployed on songs about anguish. To date, his career has lurched forward one vocal bloodletting at a time.”

His new album follows 2019’s multimillion-selling debut “Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent,” which propelled Capaldi from bedroom musician to superstar. Few had seen a debut release quite like it, becoming the biggest selling U.K. album of 2019 and 2020, spawning two U.K. No. 1 singles, bagging a few BRITs and a Grammy nomination, with one of those No. 1s becoming a smash hit on both sides of the globe in "Someone You Loved," which is now the U.K.’s most streamed song of all time.

Lewis has now scored five U.K. No. 1 singles: "Someone You Loved" (2019), "Before You Go" (2020), "Forget Me" (2022), "Pointless" (2023) and "Wish You The Best" (2023), equaling the likes of Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, David Bowie, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and The Police, as well as his debut album recently soaring back into the Top 5, and "Forget Me" climbing back into the Top 10.

One of many songs primed to move massive crowds in arenas worldwide, today’s new track "Haven’t You Ever Been In Love Before?" is a gut-punching but glorious epic.

April saw the release of Lewis’ special, raw and honest feature length music documentary “Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now,” in partnership with Netflix, BMG and Pulse Films – available to watch globally on Netflix now, and which shot straight to the top of the Netflix chart, making it the most watched film on the platform since its release.

Having recently taken on his 2023 U.K. and European arena tour, which sold out in a matter of seconds, as well as his biggest ever sold-out headline tour of North America, Lewis will headline Reading & Leeds Festival in August, perform at Glastonbury Festival, as well as play his biggest headline summer shows to date to over 30,000 fans a night in Manchester and Belfast, as well as two nights in Edinburgh. He will also take on a sold-out Australia and New Zealand arena tour this summer.

“Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent” is an undeniable statement of Capaldi’s staying power and momentous impact as an artist.
