Holiday Happenings, held at the Grand Island Golden Age Center, featured a number of vendors and crafters, who sold such things as notecards, book pillows, jams and jellies, winter squash, soaps, homemade candies, and handmade blankets. In addition, people could buy lunch, prepared by the center’s cook, or they could buy baked goods, prepared by members of the Golden Age Center. Another feature of Holiday Happenings was the basket raffle. Approximately 120 baskets were raffled off in this fundraiser for the Golden Age Center.

Grace Promowicz and Michelle Giambra were at Holiday Happenings to represent the Boro Homestead. Promowicz said she enjoyed “all of the different crafts,” while Giambra said she was happy to “be able to come and sell our products and to share about our homestead. Products produced at the Boro Homestead include strawberry jam, relishes, salsas, and Halloween confections.

A variety of winter squashes, including delicata squash and buttercup squash, were offered for sale at the outdoor farmers market.

Gourds are a way to make a home have that autumnal spirit.

Barbara Kirsch, with some of her crocheted and knitted products, said she enjoys crocheting and showing her crafts.

Grace Promowicz and Michelle Giambra of the Boro Homestead said they enjoyed their time at Holiday Happenings.
