The 914th Air Refueling Wing conducted a ground-break ceremony on base Oct. 4 to begin the main gate renovation project. This $10.6 million project is expected to last approximately two years and will create temporary changes to traffic patterns inbound and outbound the installation.
The main gate on Lockport Road will be closing Oct. 17. Upon the main gate closing, the Tuscarora Road gate will be used to enter the installation Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while the Walmore Road gate will be used to exit the base during this same time. From the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Tuscarora gate will be used for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Base personnel, along with dozens of invited distinguished guests, attended the ceremony.
