Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) is planning to be at the White House on Thursday for President Joe Biden’s United We Stand Summit. The White House announced plans for the event in August, citing the need to address hate-fueled violence in the aftermath of recent events, including the mass shooting in Buffalo.

The summit will include government officials, civil rights organizations and law enforcement, as well as faith, technology, business and community leaders, including others from Western New York.

The event is scheduled for 3:30pm. The public is invited watch the summit live at www.whitehouse.gov.

Following the May 14 shooting in Buffalo, Higgins supported approval of the:

√ Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act (approved by House on May 18)

Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (signed into law on July 11)

Active Shooter Alert Act (approved by House on July 14)

Federal Assault Weapons Ban (approved by House on July 29)

Higgins is also an original co-sponsor of the Aaron Salter Jr. Responsible Body Armor Possession Act, which prohibits the sale, transfer or possession of enhanced body armor.
