Two important and fascinating figures from Niagara County’s past will appear at Lockport’s Historic Palace Theatre on Sept. 19 to tell audiences about their lives, times and accomplishments.

The History Center’s Step back in Time Players will present Henry Peters as Washington Hunt – a prominent 1820s and 1830s Lockport lawyer who became Niagara County’s only governor of the state of New York – and Charlies Begley as Birdsall Holly – a 19th century entrepreneur and inventor who pioneered the system of municipal fire hydrants used around the world today.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. at 2 East Ave., and will be open and free to the public. (Though donations to the Palace Theatre are appreciated.)

Future programs in the History Center’s series at the Palace will include Cold Springs Cemetery on Oct. 17 and the Western New York connection to the Titanic on Nov. 14.
