Seven of Lazy Creek Art’s students, ranging from 6-9 years old, recently collaborated to create a self-published picture book titled “Kitty.” On June 5, the young artists presented Save-A-Pet Niagara of Newfane with a $100 check from the initial proceeds from their publication.

Lazy Creek Art is based out of Artisan Alley in Newfane.

When creating the book, the artists each chose a page of the story that they wanted to illustrate during their art class. Images were electronically placed on the pages as they watched the story come to life.

This was the young artists’ first experience creating illustrations for a book.

The participating Lazy Creek Art students who created the book are: Ryleigh Fuller, Henry Gregson, Makenna Keys, Abby Laubacker, Addison Wright, Jazlyn Zevetchin and Lovina Zevetchin.

The book is available at Artisan Alley (2714 Main St.) and online at www.ArtisanAlleyNewfane.com. Copies are also available through Amazon. Proceeds from the sale of “Kitty” will continue to help Save-A-Pet Niagara.
