Lions Club leading Earth Day cleanup in Lewiston

The Village of Lewiston Earth Day cleanup will be held Saturday, April 23, starting at the Red Brick Municipal Building, 145 N. Fourth St. Sign-in will start at 8 a.m., followed by volunteer instruction and a group photo at 9 a.m. Organizers anticipate clean up activities will last approximately one hour.

“We are excited to bring back the street cleanup and to kick-off our tree planting fundraiser for Earth Day,” event chairman Lion Rob Nichols said. “Over the next few months, the club will also be raising funds to plant trees throughout the community. Any donation large or small is much appreciated. Please contact us at the below email address if you are interesting in contributing to the cause.”

Those interested in participating in the cleanup are encouraged to preregister with the following link: volunteersignup.org/DQDP4. Organizers said, “Please arrive early, if you are planning to register the day of the event.

There are 46 local Lions Clubs in the Western New York area, all working within their community focusing on service activities dedicated to vision, hunger, diabetes, childhood cancer, and the environment – in addition to addressing individual humanitarian and unique, local community needs. The Lewiston club sends special thanks to the residents and organizations including the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, the Lew-Port Builders Club, Niagara University and Club Scout Pack 855, already on board as Earth Day cleanup volunteers.
