Brown announces 'Girls' Long Table Talk,' an empowerment session featuring Buffalo Police Deputy Commissioner Barbara Lark

City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown urges young women, ages 13-19, to participate in the Girls Run the World Committee “Girls’ Long Table Talk,” which will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Shea’s 710 Theatre, located at 710 Main St.  The session, which will feature Buffalo Police Deputy Commissioner Barbara Lark, will focus on issues impacting teenage girls in Buffalo, in a safe and encouraging environment.

The free event will also include City of Buffalo Deputy Mayor Dr. Ellen E. Grant, Chief Diversity Officer Shatorah Donovan, Buffalo Police Athletic League Executive Director Nekia Kemp, and Buffalo Police Community Policing Director Capt. Tommy Champion.

Thembi Duncan, director of arts engagement and education, Shea’s Performing Arts, will moderate the session, which will also include Tiffany Lewis, president and CEO, Confident Girl Mentoring Program; and Yasmin Young, brand manager, WBLK/Townsquare Media.
