Rose Chiropractic sets 32nd annual 'Doctors with a Heart Day'

One of the River Region’s most successful fundraising initiatives returns this month.

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 12, Dr. Glenda R. Rose and Dr. Thomas G. Barba of Rose Chiropractic, P.C., in Lewiston will sponsor the 32nd annual "Doctors with a Heart Day" for their patients. In exchange for chiropractic services, nonperishable food items will be collected to benefit the Niagara Community Action Program (NiaCAP) food pantry.

“It started 32 years ago,” Dr. Rose said. “A group of my colleagues and I just wanted to give back – and wanted to get chiropractic more known in the community. There were a few of us who did the program, and I've just continued it.

“It's a lot of fun. We make it a real party atmosphere, and it's just enjoyable for everyone.

“It's always amazed me how generous people are.”

The public is welcome to participate the week before and after the event (Feb. 7-18). For a bag of nonperishable food, an individual can receive a chiropractic exam, or Nutrition Response Testing analysis to learn how they can improve their health naturally.

In past years, Rose Chiropractic has shared photos showing rows of donated products collected to benefit needy families.

“We figure, in the last 32 years, we've probably collected approximately 30,000 pounds of food,” Dr. Rose said.

She noted, “Anything and everything's welcome. Sometimes people even bring paper goods – toilet paper, paper towels, things like that. But mostly canned goods, and dry goods; people also like peanut butter – things you can make meals from. Spaghetti sauce. Those are always good.”

“If any of my readers ever thought that they'd like to come in and see what Nutrition Response Testing or the chiropractic that we give at Rose Chiropractic is all about that, now would be a really wonderful time, because it's a win-win for everybody,” Dr. Rose said.
