National Endowment for the Arts Grant funded through American Rescue Plan

Congressman Brian Higgins announced Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center has been awarded a $50,000 American Rescue Plan grant through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

“Art and cultural organizations will play an important role in healing the nation postpandemic, both emotionally and economically,” Higgins said. “We are fortunate to have a vibrant arts community that will help lift our community out of this difficult period.”

The American Rescue Plan, supported by Higgins, included $135 million dedicated to relief for art and cultural organizations. Awards have been issued in several rounds. The NEA received more than 7,500 applications for grants in this round, with $57 million available. Squeaky Wheel is one of just 567 organizations nationwide receiving an award. The funding will help support jobs, facilities and outreach expenses as Squeaky Wheel recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Squeaky Wheel provides education, equipment and programing related to film and digital media arts. To learn more, go to squeaky.org.
