The Big Easy in Buffalo today announced two December shows as part of its 15th season:

Dec. 11 – Holiday Show: Kickstart Rumble w. Old School B-Boys & The Buffalo Dolls – Each group will perform and join each other for a unique rockabilly meets classic soul meets ’40s-style vocals holiday showcase. (Sportsmen’s Tavern – doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m., $10 tickets)

Dec. 13 – Jonathon Long, Fuzzy & The Rustbelts – Baton Rouge blues-rock guitarist Jonathon Long was most recently seen opening for Samantha Fish at Asbury Hall, with local Americana faves Fuzzy & The Rustbelts. (Sportsmen’s tavern – doors at 6 p.m., show at 7 p.m., $20 tickets)

“We’re excited to give a headline spot to a talented player like Jonathon Long after seeing him open for artists like Tab Benoit and Samantha Fish,” Artistic/Executive Director Tod A. Kniazuk said. “Giving Louisiana bands an opportunity here in Western New York is what The Big Easy in Buffalo is all about.”

Continuing the local series started during the height of the pandemic, the annual holiday show will showcase three top Buffalo groups.

“Response to last year’s holiday show that brought together multiple performers was so positive we just had to do it again,” Kniazuk explained. “Both the Dolls and the B-Boys normally use backing musical tracks, so it will also be very cool to hear them not only that way, but with Kickstart Rumble’s live rockabilly sound.”

Since 2007, The Big Easy in Buffalo has brought New Orleans and Louisiana music and culture to the Western New York region several times a year for free and low-cost live performance, as well as music education and mentoring for local musicians, students and the community. Through The Big Easy in Buffalo, thousands of students, dozens of local bands, and countless audience members in Western New York have been exposed to this unique American culture.

Both shows are part of the New York State Council on the Arts Rapid Restart grant program. Additional support for The Big Easy in Buffalo comes from Erie County, buffalo.fm, National Fuel Gas Co., and Dick & Jenny’s.
