In the spirit of Thanksgiving, representatives of area beverage collection organizations gathered last week in Wilson to present their annual monetary donations to officials of local food pantries.

Lewiston resident Angelo Sarkees of Deposits for Food, who organized the effort, presented $500 checks to both the Wilson Food Pantry and Ransomville Care and Share Pantry from his beverage collections this past fall. Sarkees said Deposits for Food amassed its 1 millionth returnable container.

Doug Adamson of the Porter Empty Return in Ransomville, who manages the beverage returnable account for Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, also visited to present checks of $1,000 to both the Wilson and Ransomville food pantries.
