Arts Services Inc. Executive Director Jen Swan-Kilpatrick is the chairperson of Daemen College’s “Emergence” Series, an arts showcase for emerging artists living in the region. The series will also see participation from the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, CEPA Gallery and Crucible Art Collective as gallery hosts for the selected works.

In her role as chairperson, Swan-Kilpatrick developed the call for work for “Emergence” and procured a $1,000 sponsorship through the Leadership and Entrepreneurship in the Arts program for an artist selected by a jury of arts and business professionals, as well as members of the Daemen College community. The award is intended to support professional development or an upcoming arts project of the selected artist’s choosing. Other artists selected for the program will be invited to showcase their work in April of 2022 and participate in exclusive discussions, panels and workshops intended to catalyze their careers.

A press release noted, “ASI is proud to support the ‘Emergence’ Series, which is strongly aligned with ASI’s mission of empowering the region’s artists and connecting emerging artists to the wider WNY arts community. Selected artists are encouraged to utilize ASI’s wealth of resources, including additional funding and professional development opportunities. The participation of several prominent galleries as hosts for the April 2022 showcase will further integrate the selected artists into the local arts scene.”

“Emergence” welcomes any artist and creative within the first 10 years of their practice living in the Western New York region to apply. Additionally, the work must fall within the following disciplines: still visual image, moving visual image, performance/interdisciplinary and mixed media. The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22.
