Fri, Sep 3rd 2021 10:50 am

After last-year’s break due to COVID-19, the Niagara Frontier Antique and Classic Boat Show will continue for a 42nd year on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Buffalo Launch Club, 503 E. River Road, Grand Island. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature Turcotte Gar Wood Custom Boats of Brant Lake.

“This is one of the biggest antique boat shows in the country. We get people from all over the country and, before the border was closed, from Canada as well,” show spokesman Rocky Nagel said. He noted organizers expect more than 100 boats and an equal number of spectators. There is no admission charge, but the Launch Club charges a $10 parking fee.

There will be a kid’s camp, and a model boat club show in the swimming pool. From 1-3 p.m., there will be a series of seminars inside the Launch Club, including “History of Gar Wood Boats” by the Turcotte brothers, and ”Erie Canal History, and Building of the Long Shed and Packet Boat” by the Buffalo Maritime Center.
