The Lewiston Council on the Arts invites readers to join in for a fun-filled musical weekend – what it’s calling the music happening of the year – with the return of Lewiston’s own 1960s rock musicians and friends. The 16th annual “Summer of '69” takes place July 8-10.

A pre-party/fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Stone House, 755 Center St. There is a $10 donation per person at the door.

At 6 p.m. Friday, July 9, the main event will be held at a new location: Academy Park (Center and south Ninth streets). Music from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80’s will be performed by members of local supergroups The Soft Side, County Orphanage and the Lewiston All Stars. Grammy Award-winner Gary Baker will return to perform some of his hit songs on acoustic guitar.

This event is free and open to the public thanks to the sponsorship of Brett's Tents & Awnings, Modern Corporation, Sevenson Environmental Services and the Village of Lewiston.

Music continues at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at the Stone Jug on Main Street in Youngstown.

The LCA stated, “We ask for everyone's cooperation and support by following NYS social distancing and sanitation guidelines.” Visit www.artcouncil.org.
