Safe, outdoor party to recognize & celebrate individuals with Down syndrome.

On Sunday, March 21, GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center will host a tailgate-style party to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.

“Down syndrome occurs when there are three copies of the 21st chromosome. Every year, on March 21 (or 3/21), the world comes together to celebrate those who have Down syndrome and bring awareness to those who may not know much about it,” said GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo’s Board President Will Mondschein. “After a long, cold winter, our celebration will be about getting outdoors, welcoming the spring, and spending time safely with the community. We invite everyone to bring their favorite tailgating chair and join the fun!”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited, and reservations are required. The reservation will secure a spot for an hour in the UB Anderson Gallery parking lot, behind GiGi’s Playhouse. There are three reservation periods to allow more people to take part in the party. Social distancing and masking rules will be observed.

Attendees will receive a goody-bag full of gifts, will be treated to the sounds of the Sara Rogers and Nelson Rivera Duo, and can enjoy food and drink provided by the Share Kitchen & Bar Room food truck. GiGi’s Playhouse Buffalo is located at 326 Kenmore Ave., Buffalo. It serves all individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the greater community. For more information, visit www.gigisplayhouse.org/buffalo.

GiGi’s Playhouse is the only network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers, with more than 50 brick-and-mortar locations across the U.S. and Mexico. Every day, GiGi’s Playhouse changes lives by providing free, life-changing therapeutic, educational and career training programs for individuals of all ages. The organization also helps advance a vital social impact goal by showing the world what individuals with Down syndrome can achieve as students, co-workers, volunteers, friends and valued members of their communities.
