On Feb. 1, the Family Justice Center received a “ton of diapers, wipes, and other baby items” from the Ladies in Faith Together group of Saint Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. In addition, the group donated $250, which the Family Justice Center requested to establish a new pantry for baby items.

The Family Justice Center provides support for people who are fleeing from situations of domestic violence. According to the Rev. Nicholas Evancho, priest-in-charge at Saint Martin’s, “I’m just glad that we’ve been able to, during this difficult time, help people in our community who are struggling even more than we are.”

Ellen Valvo, who delivered the baby supplies added, “The woman that I spoke to was overwhelmed by how much we had collected and was definitely very grateful for the donations. She said, ‘This is going to really help our clients.’ ” The diapers were collected during the month of January as part of the church’s celebration of Epiphany, when three kings delivered gifts to the baby Jesus.
