The Winery at Marjim Manor will host a photography exhibit by Janet D. Schultz, with a grand-opening event from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28. Refreshments will be served. All attendees are asked to follow COVID-19 safety protocols.

Schultz began her passion for photography as a 4-H member. She used a box camera, followed by a Kodak 104 Instamatic, then her first 35mm rangefinder, a Yasicha. She now uses Canon.

She is basically self-taught, taking photography in 4-H and a course at Niagara County Community College. Schultz has also taught basic photography and travel photography.

Ice hockey has become the focus of her career. Schultz has covered grassroots hockey all the way to the National Hockey League and National Women’s Hockey League. She has also covered the Buffalo Bills and has photographed Major League Baseball. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including this one.

While working full time as a public relations assistant for 40 years at NCCC, Schultz also served as the college’s photographer after the full-time position was eliminated.

Her interest in landscape and travel photography has expanded after her retirement from NCCC and now she has delved into the world of exhibiting and selling her works.

Schultz is a graduate of Starpoint Central School and NCCC. She has an associate’s degree in communication/media arts.

Currently, she serves as the photographer and reporter or NY Hockey OnLine Magazine, which encompasses covering all the ice hockey in New York. Schultz also does the design and layout of the magazine, which is electronic.

Schultz resides in Wilson with her husband, Randy.
