A girl or adult volunteer can have a chance to win a year’s supply of Girl Scout Cookies when registering for Girl Scouts during the 2021 “Join-a-thon.”

With the start of a new year, Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY) will hold its fourth annual “Join-a-thon” from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, taking on-the-spot registrations over the phone and online. Media outlets throughout GSWNY’s nine county regional service area will help to direct listeners to call 1-888-837-6410 or go to www.gswny.org for a chance to win special incentives when they register for Girl Scouts during the 2021 “Join-a-thon.”

Adults who register to become volunteers and/or register their girls during the Girl Scout “Join-a-thon” will have a chance to win Girl Scout incentives such as a $100 or $50 gift card of their choice, or a year’s supply of Girl Scout cookies (52 boxes). New girls who join and girls who renew their membership will also receive an exclusive invite to the “Join-a-thon” virtual pop-up party from 6-7 p.m. and a special “Join-a-thon” patch.

The virtual pop-up party is new this year, offering girls a scavenger hunt, give-a-ways, other fun games, and a special guest. Also, when girls join on Jan. 13, they have the opportunity to participate in the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program that runs now through March 28.

Adults must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer, while girls must be in grades K-12 to join. All potential adult volunteers are subject to a background check and training before volunteering. In addition, Girl Scouts is sending out a special invite for girls in grades K-1 to join as Daisy Girl Scouts.

Girl Scouts for girls and adult volunteers can call 1-888-837-6410 or email [email protected].

The “Join-a-thon” is a 12-hour event, but those interested can still register after the event. The special “Join-a-thon” incentives won’t be available, however. To learn more about girl membership, adult volunteerism, and supporting a girl with a Girl Scout Cookie purchase, visit www.gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.

Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY) serves 13,000 girls and over 5,000 adult volunteers across the GSWNY jurisdiction, including Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. The council’s administrative service centers are located in Batavia, Buffalo, Jamestown, Lockport, Niagara Falls and Rochester.
