The annual Light the World campaign, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, kicks-off Sunday, Nov. 15. #LightTheWorld is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. The church invites people of all beliefs to come together this holiday season to serve one another – just like Jesus Christ did.

By visiting LightTheWorld.org, individuals can:

√ Sign up for daily service prompts

√ Download a daily service calendar

√ Donate to charitable organizations worldwide

√ View a video about the birth of Jesus, the Christ Child

Bradley Simpson, president of the Buffalo region’s nine congregations, said, “As we look for ways to celebrate the life and message of the Savior Jesus Christ this Christmas season, #LightTheWorld can bring us all together even while we may have to stay physically apart. We invite all to join with us to, unitedly, #LightTheWorld.”

New this holiday season, viewers can see behind-the-scenes footage and interviews in “The Making of the Christ Child,” which highlights the research that went into portraying the birth of Jesus Christ in an historically accurate way.

“I loved learning more about the birth of Jesus,” said Kristen Dimick of Orchard Park “While this is a familiar story to all Christians, it was fascinating to learn from the historians more about the era and customs at the time of the Nativity.”

In 2019, the #LightTheWorld initiative raised more than $6 million for charitable organizations throughout the globe. The campaign will run through Dec. 31.
