Meet “Josh Allen,” the Wheatfield Pumpkin Farm’s 2,000-pound steer.

Farmer Jim DeVantier, who has owned and operated the farm for over 30 years, affectionately named him after Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. The steer is the star of the daytime hayride at the farm, which runs daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Farm staffers said this “Josh Allen” “has been around people so much that he thinks he is a dog! When he hears farmer’s voice, he moos because he thinks he is going to get an apple from our tree.”

Although the Wheatfield Pumpkin Farm can’t offer its traditional nighttime haunted hayrides this year, the corn maze is open and hayrides are running throughout the day.

The hayride goes through pastures, across a covered bridge, and through many areas decorated for Halloween. There is also an impressive selection of pumpkins to choose from as patrons enjoy the farm.

Through Halloween, the Wheatfield Pumpkin Farm is open daily from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at 6920 Nash Road, Wheatfield. Masks are required at all times, and social distancing guidelines are in effect. For more information, call 716-693-6407.
