Sat, Sep 26th 2020 07:00 am

The Grand Island School and Business Alliance’s first online raffle drawing raised $8,150 for local student scholarships, GISBA members report.

GISBA co-chair Eric Fiebelkorn said the organization had raffle ticket purchases from 263 entrants in the drawing.

Four prize packages, each valued at more than $1,300, were up for grabs.

The prize packages were:

•Package No. 1 – Weber Performance Deluxe Series 22-inch charcoal grill, Buffalo Bills theme outdoor furniture/games, a $250 gift card to Tops, Wegmans or Federal Meats (winner’s choice). This package was donated by Campus Construction Management and HM Insurance Group and was won by Heidi Jank.

•Package No. 2 – Four field-level tickets to see Billy Joel at Bills Stadium at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, plus limo/luxury car service to and from the concert. This package was donated by Young & Wright Architects and was won by Leanne Wills.

•Package No. 3 – His and hers Apple watches, two pairs of premium brand sunglasses were donated by Grand Island Optical, Independent Health, and the Fiebelkorn family and was won by Kurt Lorence.

•Package No. 4 – 90-minute cruise of the Buffalo River and Inner Harbor for 10 people, plus a limo ride; a $350 gift certificate to one of 16 Grand Island Chamber of Commerce member restaurants of the winner’s choice. Donated by the Premier Consulting Associates and the Graham family, the prize was won by Adina Costanzo.

The drawing was broadcast via Facebook live Monday.

With the cancellation of the GISBA annual golf outing due to COVID-19, the online raffle was GISBA’s only fundraiser this year.

Fiebelkorn said GISBA has evolved over the years from a venture to prepare students for job interviews and skills to enter the workforce into a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit helping students pursue destinations after graduation in all walks of life. Last year, GISBA gave out $5,000 in scholarships.
