By Nicole Quarantillo

Hello community members of the Village of Youngstown. My name is Nicole Quarantillo and I am running to be your next Youngstown trustee.

I have lived in the village for 11 years with my husband, Greg Quarantillo, and our son, Gregory. I serve the community as a member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary where I have held multiple positions and am currently the president. My husband, Greg, also is a strong advocate of community service as he also belongs to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. and is currently the chief.

Our community service goes beyond Youngstown though. We were the celebrity family in 2015 for the Variety Kids Telethon, where we shared our story of our son’s premature birth and helped raised money for what is now Oishei Children’s Hospital. In 2018, my family created a satellite to support the Variety Kids Telethon where we raised $17,000 to give back and help families who need it. Serving and helping others is what my family does, and I am excited to expand my community support out further.

I have worked in the business field and business management field for the past 13 years. I have learned and always stress to others that customer service and people always come first. You must be able to put your own opinions aside to be able to listen and to learn from others. This is a skill I know will be most useful as a trustee. I will always make sure to listen to community members and use the people-first mentality that I have to help solve issues that may come up.

This people-first mentality is a passion; this is a strength that I know the Village Board will benefit from. I listen to community members and what they need. Though I may not be able to promise an immediate change, I will listen to each concern and idea for improvements in the village. The board is here to serve the community and put the community’s needs first, and I look forward to helping the village in its continued growth.

Youngstown is a beautiful village with a deep and rich history. We have Fort Niagara and the Niagara River right in our own backyard – something that most people do not have. With the beauty of the village and how quiet and peaceful it is, the village is starting to attract new young families. Having a young son myself, this is the perfect place to raise your child in.

In order to continue to grow and attract young families, their opinions and voices must be heard. I plan on working with the board and the community to create events, expand on the Recreation Department and update our beautiful parks to help the growth of young families in the community.

There is much to be learned from our current community residents. I want to hear and learn about what the community wants and needs and, yes, I know, a grocery store is one of them! My goal is to help the current residents be heard and understand and work together to accomplish goals. As for our wonderful businesses in the village, I want to continue to work on building strong relationships between the board and the businesses. I want to learn from them what they need from the village to stay successful, even during these trying times. This village has so much to offer our current businesses and new ones.

Lastly, it is time to create a stronger bond with the Town of Porter Town Board. The town does, in fact, surround parts of the village and it is time to work together and act in unity. I would like to see the two boards meet and work together to help solve issues and work on new ideas for the community members. It is time to show unity within the boards and work together.

As trustee, I can promise you that I will lead with both my heart and my head. I will make sure I listen to the members of the community and help make changes that will benefit everyone. It is time to bring fresh, new ideas to help build the community in a positive light. I will work with anyone who wants to see a change in the village for the good of all, and who want to see the continued growth of young new families.

I am running with the people-first mentality that has helped me succeed in both my work and personal life. If elected as your new Youngstown village trustee, I will continue to have that mindset and keep the communities wants and needs first. On Sept. 15, I encourage all members to get out and vote. It is time for fresh, new, and young ideas. I welcome your vote and look forward to serving you as your next Youngstown village trustee.
